Welcoming members of a local Islamic center at a shabbat of solidarity

 For Rabbi Muhlbaum, social justice is an essential piece of Jewish identity. The pursuit of justice is not just a commandment; it is one of her primary ways of living Jewish values. Throughout her career, Rabbi Muhlbaum has been engaged in meaningful interfaith work, advocacy around racial justice, and more. Most recently, Rabbi Muhlbaum spearheaded Fairmount Temple’s Abortion Access Working Group of over 80 members. Together, they’ve engaged in the civic process, advocated for expanded abortion access, and worked closely together with communal partners across Cleveland and Ohio, as well as national partners like NCJW and the ACLU. The Abortion Access Working Group has made a measurable impact on the efforts to enshrine abortion access into the Ohio constitution. For Rabbi Muhlbaum, social justice work is one powerful way that we can take Jewish teachings, make them relevant for life today, and turn our values into action.
